The Self Sustaining Aquaponic inspired Restaurant/Health Center!
Many people who have entered the field of Aquaponics or farming in general will tell you that the hardest part of the job is finding a market for your product. I wanted to eliminate the middle man and just go strait to selling the food we grow. That got me thinking that a Restaurant/Health Center might just be the best place to sell fresh organic food, prepared in some of the most ingenious and healthy ways at affordable prices while still making profit. Right next door could be a Electricity Producing Gym where the customers that just ate in the restaurant can go and work off the abundant amount of energy they just received in a gym that creates power from the kinetic movement of the human body.
Imagine walking into a restaurant that has fish in aquariums feeding walls of basil, mint, teas and herbs to naturally provide aroma for each room. Aquaponics is worked into the aesthetics of each room providing a nice, natural feeling environment. The workers in the restaurant do not just obtain one skill such as serving or cooking. Each person trained learns growing the food first, then cook it, and serve it last. This way the people coming in to work for the restaurant completely understand each part of the system and can speak openly to the customers about where their food comes from. The menu will be something close to a food Bible, giving detailed explanations of dishes as well as the nutritional information. Graphs, charts, pictures of the farm, and system details can all be worked into the menu design. Entire diet plans can be custom created for the customers and a small staff of nutritionists/personal trainers can help with dish choices and workout routines. The waste from the restaurant can be used for compost and BioGas production. The energy inputs to the Restaurant can come from renewable sources. The end result is hopefully an experience that changes the perspective of the consumer to pay more attention to food and where it comes from as well as the energy it takes to make it and break the waste down.
