Aquaponics
Aquaponics is basically the combination of Aquaculture and Hydroponics into the same closed loop, symbiotic system. The fish provide food for the plants the plants clean the water and provide food for the fish. These systems are modeled after a stream and can be build and maintained very efficiently. The inputs are Water, Electricity for the pump, Fry(small fish) at first, seeds, and last is the Feed for the fish. The outputs of the system are grown Fish, Fruits, Veggies, and Nuts(If grown properly) all grown organically with no chemicals or pesticides.
- Aquaponics uses about 5% to 10% of the water that traditional soil based farming does depending on climate and the design of the system
- Aquaponics is energy-efficient: Current systems in parts of the world using renewables use one-tenth of the energy conventional farming does
- Aquaponics has seven to ten times more vegetable production in the same area and time traditional farming provides due to vertical stacking
- Aquaponics systems with mosquito consuming fish eradicate mosquitoes in a LARGE surrounding areas (Great for Louisiana!)
- Aquaponics is fully scalable from indoor systems to backyard family systems to full commercial systems.
- Aquaponics is pure, clean, and natural: USDA Certified Organic and Food Safety Certified
- Aquaponics is easy to learn and operate: all ages with almost any education can grow food using Aquaponics
